Encouraging Academic Honesty

  • Explain to students your expectations regarding academic honesty and proper recognition of sources.
  • Offer information about how to properly reference materials.  Suggest university support structures to help students learn how to reference.
  • Establish the importance of recognising colleagues efforts, and allowing all group members equal opportunities to contribute.
  • Establish ground rules for involvement in groups.  Provide examples of acceptable and unacceptable behaviours within groups, and between groups.
  • Discuss etiquette for group involvement with respect to the sharing of information, and the need to establish an agreed code of conduct within a group
